Born and raised in Vancouver, I have grown to love the city’s parks and outdoor activities. I enjoy running and participating in athletic events, including the Vancouver marathon and the local Grouse Grind. With my running partner, my father, I hope to finish many more fun and exciting events whether it be in our city or abroad. I have traveled, studied and lived in Australia, Singapore, & Malaysia over the last 20 years, but will always enjoy what Vancouver has to offer.

I studied at the University of British Columbia: first in a Bachelors of Human Kinetics (BHK) with a Commerce Minor and then my Master of Physical Therapy degree (MPT). My aim is to help and rehab others to return to their active selves, be athletically conditioned, be conscious of their well-being, and to be able to achieve their health and fitness goals.

Some of my other interests include hiking, cycling, sewing, cooking (particularly southeast Asian cuisine), and teaching piano (certified with the Royal Conservatory of Music).

Meet Tony

Book Monday and Friday

I discovered physiotherapy after getting injured while playing sports. That first injury taught me how life-changing it is to have a therapist who truly listens, understands your fears, and treats you as an individual. Over the years, I’ve faced other injuries and found myself looking for someone who could offer that same level of care and empathy. I know what it’s like to feel limited by pain and to worry about how it might affect your life. These experiences shaped my approach as a physiotherapist—I strive to provide the understanding and personalized care I know makes all the difference.

In 2011, I moved to Canada from Latin America to follow my dream of becoming a physiotherapist.

I have years of experience working in both in-home care and clinic-based settings. I can help with managing pain, creating personalized strengthening plans, and guiding recovery for people at all stages of life. My approach focuses on understanding each person’s unique needs and creating a safe, supportive space where they feel empowered to reach their health goals. I speak both English and Spanish, which allows me to connect with a diverse group of clients.

I graduated from the University of Victoria with a degree in Kinesiology and earned my Master’s in Physiotherapy from the University of British Columbia. I am also certified in Modern Dry Needling – Anatomical Neuropathic Intramuscular Stimulation (AN-IMS) and helped run Victoria’s largest post-operative joint replacement program for knee and hip replacements.

Outside of work, I enjoy cooking and baking with my wife, volunteering at my church, traveling, and staying active outdoors through activities like pickleball, baseball, and beach volleyball.

Who Physiotherapy Is For

Our physiotherapy services in Vancouver are a good fit if you:

  • Have recently experienced an injury such as a sprain, strain, or whiplash
  • Are recovering from surgery, including joint replacements or ACL repair
  • Deal with chronic pain, including back pain, neck pain, or joint issues
  • Are looking for a physiotherapist in Vancouver who takes a personalized, one-on-one approach
  • Want to address a movement problem before it becomes a bigger issue
  • Are an ICBC claimant looking for physiotherapy as part of your motor vehicle accident recovery

What to Expect From a Physiotherapy Session

Your first visit begins with a thorough assessment, where your physiotherapist takes the time to understand your injury, symptoms, movement history, and goals. From there, a personalized treatment plan is built around your specific needs, whether that’s recovering from a recent injury, managing a long-standing condition, or working to prevent future problems.

Treatment may include hands-on manual therapy, targeted exercise prescription, dry needling, and guidance on how to manage your condition between sessions. As you progress, your plan evolves with you. Our physiotherapists work closely with the rest of the West Coast Kinetics team, so if your recovery calls for a transition into active rehabilitation or kinesiology-led personal training, that handoff is seamless.

How Physiotherapy and Kinesiology Work Together

One of the advantages of choosing West Coast Kinetics for physiotherapy is the ability to move seamlessly between services as your recovery progresses. Physiotherapy is often the right starting point after an acute injury or surgery, focusing on diagnosis, pain management, and early rehabilitation. Once you’re ready to build strength and return to full activity, our kinesiologists can take over, designing a progressive program that picks up exactly where physiotherapy leaves off.

This continuity of care means you’re never starting from scratch with someone who doesn’t know your history, and your recovery stays on track from first appointment to full return to activity. Learn more about our kinesiology sessions and ICBC active rehabilitation services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist in Vancouver?
No referral is required to book a physiotherapy appointment at West Coast Kinetics. You’re welcome to book directly through our online booking system.

Is physiotherapy covered by insurance?
Physiotherapy is commonly covered by extended health insurance plans in BC. We recommend confirming your specific coverage with your provider before your first appointment.

What conditions do your physiotherapists treat?
Our physiotherapists treat a wide range of conditions including sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, back and neck pain, joint pain, whiplash, and general movement dysfunction. If you’re unsure whether physiotherapy is right for your condition, reach out and we’ll help point you in the right direction.

How is physiotherapy different from kinesiology?
Physiotherapy focuses on diagnosing and treating injuries and acute conditions, often using hands-on techniques, modalities, and exercise prescription. Kinesiology focuses on movement science and active rehabilitation, helping clients rebuild strength and function over the longer term. The two work best together, and many West Coast Kinetics clients use both at different stages of their recovery.

How long are physiotherapy sessions?
Session length varies depending on your treatment plan. Your physiotherapist will confirm session length and recommended frequency during your initial assessment.

Where is West Coast Kinetics located?
We’re located at 3754 West 10th Avenue in Point Grey, Vancouver, offering physiotherapy and kinesiology services to clients across the Vancouver area.
